Cameroon Sends 100,000 Nigerian Refugees Packing

Image
C ameroon government has sent 100,000 Nigerian refugees packing.the Human Rights Watch (HRW), which made this known, yesterday, said the deportation defied a plea by the United Nations (UN) refugee agency not to return anyone to the North Eastern, where Boko Haram has killed thousands of people, “until security and human rights situation improved considerably.” The group, which investigates allegations of human rights abuses worldwide, said the report was based on interviews with more than 60 refugees. It noted that soldiers tortured, assaulted and sexually exploited Nigerian asylum seekers and denied them access to the UN refugee agency. “The Cameroonian military torture and abuse of Nigerian refugees seems to be driven by an arbitrary decision to punish them for Boko Haram attacks in Cameroon and to discourage Nigerians from seeking asylum,” Gerry Simpson, HRW associate refugee director said.

Trump Says Facebook Was ‘Always’ Against Him As Senate Summons Social Media

Image
U S President Donald Trump has rejected claims that Facebook ads got him elected, calling the social network part of the hostile mainstream media. Facebook, Twitter and Google have been summoned to testify before the US Senate Intelligence Committee. In a tweet Wednesday, the president argued that Facebook was “always anti-Trump,” marching in lockstep with major media outlets like the New York Times and the Washington Post to back his opponent Hillary Clinton during the campaign. Earlier this month, Facebook announced it had found $100,000 worth of ads connected to about 470 “inauthentic accounts and pages… likely operated out of Russia.” This prompted sensationalist reports of Kremlin meddling in places like Twin Falls, Idaho. The ads and accounts “appeared to focus on amplifying divisive social and political messages across the ideological spectrum,” rather than referencing the election or a particular candidate, Facebook said. On Tuesday, Congress...

Uber Fails To Get Its License To Continue Service In London

Image
Uber was declined to have the operating license in London over its alleged lack of responsibility in the service, Transport for London stated this week.  The authority decided to confiscate the ride-hailing service provider from being functional in the UK capital subsequent to its existing license ending on September 30.  However Uber will continue serving in the city as it approaches appealing the decision. Uber was deemed unfit and improper to continue as an operator license holder on some issues which the authority believes it is ineligible from being allowed to be functional in London city. Not one factor was responsible for this denial of license. Uber has been under scanners since some months. Its alleged program of Greyball that it used to evade the local authorities monitoring its service. How Often Should You Bathe Your Dog?

Image
If your dog had the wherewithal to make out a list of his least favorite things to do, getting a bath would probably be close to the top. Since dog baths tend to be messy, time-consuming and not a whole lot of fun for everyone involved, it’s natural to wonder, “How often should I bathe my dog?” As is often the case, the answer is “It depends.” “Dogs groom themselves to help facilitate the growth of hair follicles and to support skin health,” says Dr. Adam Denish of Rhawnhurst Animal Hospital in Elkins Park, Penn. “However, bathing is needed for most dogs to supplement the process. But bathing too often can be detrimental to your pet as well. It can irritate the skin, damage hair follicles, and increase the risk of bacterial or fungal infections.” Dr. Jennifer Coates, veterinary advisor with petMD, adds, “the best bath frequency depends on the reason behind the bath. Healthy dogs who spend most of their time inside may only need to be bathed a few times a year to control natural ‘doggy...

The Reading Habits Of Highly Successful People

Image
Some of the world's highest achievers have one thing in common, it isn’t a high IQ, nor is it an incredible lucky streak, but their appreciation for reading. Books were their most profitable investment. Two teenage boys found employment at a grocery store in Omaha, Nebraska. The older boy, from a poor family devastated by the   Great Depression, bred and sold hamsters for spare change. The younger boy, grandson of the store owner, had been delaying college and working odd jobs, like selling chewing gum and coke bottles door to door. Back then, each boy made about $2 a day. Just a few decades later, they’d be raking in $20 billion in profit per year with their conglomerate, Berkshire Hathaway. Who were these boys? None other than Charlie Munger and Warren Buffett. How did they become the most successful investors America has ever seen? Buffett spends 80% of his day reading Fast track to 2007, the 84 year-old Charlie Munger, reveals to a crowd of aspiring law students the secret...

Do Dogs Understand Time

Image
D ogs don’t have watches or keep day planners, so how do they track the passing of time? Scientists have a few ideas. First, animals and other organisms have an internal clock of sorts called a circadian rhythm, a roughly 24-hour cycle in their physiological processes that responds to cues like the cycle of light and darkness. Instead of knowing what hour meals are served or ticking off units of time in their heads, dogs may be keeping track of time using this rhythm, responding to a physiological state they reach at a particular time of day, and associating it with a particular event, like dinner. Alternatively, “animals might use markers in their daily life to keep track of time, such as position to the sun in the sky ,” . Wynne a vet suggests that dogs may also simply pick up on social cues that tell them something is about to happen. Dogs are “watching everything you do for some clue that something is going to happen that’s going to matter to them,” he says. These cues don’t n...
